another poke in the US/UK pop music challenge: 'naturalism'

Not sure if the notion of 'naturalism' relating to the difference b/w the UK and US bands, esp. during the fog of later post-punk has been discussed. Listening to the STONE ROSES first album after delving into the Talking Heads catalogue, it became quite obvious how 'blurred' the guitar sounds...

Researchers find way to improve musical performance

Yeah but there's a big difference in 'performance' when it comes to electronica and rock. With electronica everything is pre-recorded on DAt or Vinyl, and is quite a lazy way to perform. Rock you need to actually phyicallly and mentally PLAY.

What exactly is HAUNTOLOGY to pop music?

Goth is also very interested in sex and carnality, prolly more than straight white-ponces that listen to dub and two-step. And goth also likes cyber/technological stuff too.. I just find 'hauntology' to be just a more pretentious term for good old 'ethereal' and all the offshoots of all that...

    hauntology

Hey Mr Caretaker. I've got that V/VM CD with the Blue Cover in the plastic bag. I bought it thinking it had something to do with THE SHINING soundtrack, which is a 'hauntology classic' albiet seriously unavailable on the digital format!

What exactly is HAUNTOLOGY to pop music?

The word 'hauntology' has been throwed around a fair bit, and seems to relate to some post deleuzian body-without-organs concept to music.. I'm figuring it means anything that sounds lost, otherworldly, old, ancient, dead, spooky, etc...Correct? SO you could peg Moby's PLAY as 'hauntology' as...

    Badly Recorded Music

just listen to bands on the lamented Aussie garage-punk label DOG MEAT RECORDS - some of the greatest high-energy hard-rock bands of the the last 15 years recorded by idiot rock-heads that don't know what they're doing. CRIME were terribly recorded. As is some of the early ghetto-booty-house...

TO me personally no. Other forms of abuse yes, but I got a thick skin ofor shit like that. If you wanna get political, well then, expect violence, fights, screaming and not much achieved, ever. Yes. Though post-modernists would detract that statement as criticism's of the POLICIES of the...

    Syd Barrett vs. John Lennon

I heard so much about Syd's legend, I never actually heard his muzak until about 6 weeks ago! ...and what a MINDBLAST his stuff is. Awesome, awesome, eccentric-pop as a poite word, but serious, undisputed English songwriting genius full-stop, yadda-yadda. It immediately hit me, how...

    Coming to Australia

Melbourne is where it's at for culture, because we have shit weather. Sydney is an over-priced city, but is a far more beautful city with better beaches, hence why Melbourne has a stronger culture. Don't go to Brunswick St, as it's a post-boho yuppie-social project. Go further west to Syndey...
