Is it his Northern-ness for you any chance? Would you also cite the disconnect for say, Mark One? (I won't touch the MCs)

    Stormin'

Its a real shame I'd thought he'd beaten it last year.

has hip hop been "aesthetically brutalised"?

YRN 2 is probably their greatest project tbh.

I mean as far as the X and Meth lineage, this is him while he's still finding the formula and I think it makes a good case. The bombast of Busta is lost on Meth but you listen to Busta's weirder moments on the 2nd LONS album where he's more withdrawn such as Time. I mean "Time" itself is a...

The hip hop never ever ever stops thread

The secret of Meth is that in reality he was derivative of Busta Rhymes but with much less of the showmanship. Even if the production hadn't fallen apart on him he had a 2-3 year shelf life at best. Not that its a bad thing, DMX was wholly derivative of Meth beyond his Tupacisms.

    Road Rap

Appropriate grammar is not necessary for The Fall, both in tribute and dismissal. Charisma is apparent in the gestures of how you make yourself identifiable while also hiding your identity. If you wanna be super pretentious about it, how many grime MCs were probably great but you never knew...

Its not just the production its the bars. The More Fire album basically does a lot of what by your definition a good grime album might be and then it flops. So Solid Crew albums, meh. BITC only works b/c its preserving Dizzee at his peak. It's mixed well, but its a well mixed and marketed...

The ultimate failing of Boy in da Corner is it was sold as a rap album when its an Alan Lomax style documentation record in reality. .... and that's why every Dizzee record after Showtime sucks. Because they're rap albums.

Watched this thing years back where it was Hyper b2b on mic with Jon E Cash. Diabolical disparity in enjoyment.
