    The New World

The film is poetic(visuals) and rhythmic(editing), it is not about acting. You can go to the theatre for that....Also who cares what people in the audience do? Is that how you critque a film? Maybe prior knowledge of Malick's work would have been useful. You could have saved some money.

    Robert Altmans 'Nashville'

Altman also did an incredible job on" Vincent and Theo"also political satire in "Tanner" 3women is worth a look too; I think Mcabe and Mrs Miller is probably his most poetic.Leonard Cohen is on the soundtrack as well.Cheers, Chris

    Stan Brakhage, hey

That sounds amazing! Taking my films to festivals, underground cinemas, art festivals, I have seen some amazing work that I knew I probably would never see again, but the images resonate. Your project sounds really fascinating, have you thought of doing a documentary? Chris

    Stan Brakhage, hey

Wonderful idea, I am a filmmaker myself, but I have seen lots of Brakhage films, it would be nice to screen them based on his themes, discuss them and maye show new films, new directors. I know Canyon Cinema has some of his work. Chris

    Stan Brakhage, hey

Brakhage I think Brakhage is a true visionary....Phillip Brophy's 100 Modern Soundracks has the Act of Seeing as the loudest film ever made...What do you think? I agree with you, once is enough. Chris

This years The Books/Animal Collective/Junior Boys?

Animal Collective I love Animal Collective's sung tongs, but if you listen closely to Smiley Smile by The Beach Boys there are wonderful similarities in vocal and spirit, not as groundbreaking as some may believe....Panda Bear is a different matter.
