Finally saw the Hype vid for "Diamonds" on BET last night. I am psyched on Kanye's personality conflicts. His self-portrait seems to best reflect the contradictions of advanced capitalism in 2005, viz the tension between globalization's benefits and crimes (diamonds at what cost?) Are Diss...
Well into DVD1 and it's living up to the hype in a big way. Bruza / Terror Danjah track on the audio CD is killerrr. Bruza will not be slept on for much longer.
Anyone else deep in this?
So far "Go" is the uncontested hazy stoop jam of the summer. Is anyone else listening to this record? I like that it's a Chicago collaborative.. lots of neighborhood references. Having Kanye produce so much gives it real consistency of sound unlike so many other hiphop LPs.
Had supper over Earth2 and Noothgrush last night. It had me thinking of headier dubstep mixes at times. Highly repetitive with subtle shifts in texture and tone. Is anyone else on this board interested in drone / doom metal?
This track has been growing increasingly on me. It's like a trainwreck of grime conventions. Weird vocal stabs, sublow bass, handclaps..
Anyone else into this track?
I'm heading over to the DR show in Cambridge tomorrow night. I'm getting there around 10pm. Can anyone report on the timing of the tour thus far? Should I expect to miss DJ Wonder?
Also, is DR selling any vinyl on this tour?

I have a DVD-rom and a playstation 2.. can't get the Risky Roads DVD working on either. Anyone have suggestions? I think I need a "region free" player but not sure..?
Finally got my hands on some non-wiley/diz grime vinyl and it's like I am hearing this music for the first time. I had no idea how how how BIG the bass on forward really is. Plus, the b-side to RD's "let it out" is seriously great.. so busy and hectic.
I like to imagine mp3 being less lossy...
i just read about megatron on ripley's blog. who is this? i'm definitely interested in hearing someone cut up the grime tracks that are flowing faster and faster across the US borders..
This idea has been introduced a few times and I don't know what movement has been made so far. I'm located in Boston, USA and can take on some organizing responsibilities. If you're interested, post your location and let's see what we can get started.
