Mr. Tea
Let's Talk About Ceps
If you were* a pagan aristocrat, what items would you want burried with you in your barrow or immolated in your longship to accompany you into the next life? Food and drink items, books, music, favourite clothes, whatever.
I'd probaby start with the drinks - a really good bottle of single malt (latest favourite: Dalwhinnie Distiller's Edition, it's like having a little pool of molten gold coating the inside of your mouth) and a few choice beers - please don't ask me to choose. Some cheese from Neal's Yard or equivalent quality and a large lamb shish from Yayla on Green Lanes. A pack each of really good English Breakfast and Earl Grey.
The nice hand-made rug on my bedroom floor. My shisha and some good fruit tobacco. My favourite coat and hat.
Music is tricky: a good start would be the first four Sabbath albums. Probably some Kraftwerk in there too. Dunno really - don't concentrate on the music, this isn't meant to be a Desert Island Discs thread. Edit: but I wouldn't mind 'Blue Monday' on original 12" and Devin Townsend's three really good records.
Books: similarly tricky. Would definitely include a copy of Dune, maybe Moby Dick, and some Robert Rankin for light relief.
DVDs: definitely Ghostbusters! The Jonathon Meades box set. The complete Blackadder. Probably Brass Eye.
Edit: on a purely practical note, Zippo lighter and Swiss army knife. Be prepared, people!
