Alternately titled: Old News, But I'm Listening Anyway, and Here's Why:

1. Amerie's "One Thing." no, twenty booming listens per day on home and car stereos at high volumes have not dampened the pleasure for this listener

2. Both MU records. Maurice Fulton gives us dance music's version of Drive Like Jehu (but more fun), rejoice

3. Notorious Big. Ready to Die, Remastered. ten years running and the thing still sounds beyond beyond

4. The revamped eskibeat.co.uk. the mixes

5. SCH "Kazumi" and "Nazi UFO." four to the floor Bosnian techno-industrial from ground zero of Sarajevo's avant-garde scene. info and mp3s availabe here

6. DJ Clever's entire offshore mix. unbelieveable, this

7. Aim High vol. 2 and, yes, for those of us stateside who still savor our mail order buys months later, Run the Road.

8. Evergreen's One-Armed Junglist mix

9. Pearsall's freeform/hardcore mixes and Marc Dauncey's old school jungle mixes

10. playing the dizzee "showtime" a capella for people who've never heard grime, then playing the tune

7) Latino Pride - Lil Cee, Sal Parm & DJ Skribble (featured on Reggaeton Traxx 11)
The most exhuberant, crazy party of your life jammed into 5 glorious arseshaking minutes.

I haven't located this tune yet, but 'Let's Get It On' by Sal Parm & Skribble is crazily good. Who are these guys anyway?

Rather than a top ten, it is more the things that have been near my stereo over the past few weeks.

1. Akala w. Jammer, Riko… - Roll wid us
This has been on near repeat play since the start of the year. I can’t put my finger on exactly what has caught me so much on this yet, but it is getting worn. I may buy a second copy. One of the few tunes I have seen being pushed at both Blackmarket and Uptown this year. I can't understand why it doesn't get talked about, but...

2. Burial – South London Buroughs
Kode9 had so many dubs up in Edinburgh, and I was pleading for a copy of this. Finally out, and worth the wait (but now I want him and Daddi Gee to do Ghost Town asap!)

3. World of Echo – Arthur Russell / 24-24 – Dinosaur L
Double vinyl repress, finally. Enough said. It is warmer than the CD somehow… plus another Russell repress. I’m having an Arthur spell.

4. Losoul remixes
Supermayer and AlterEgo mess about on Playhouse.

5. Gonzales – Solo Piano
Cos I am having a bad time at work and it helps me get to sleep. I should get some more piano music.

6. Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto – Insen
I listened to Vrioon so much that I was overjoyed that this came out. Just wonderful.

7. The name of the Band is - Talking Heads
I have just reboxed and moved all my records the length of the country and keep digging out buys from all over the place, all over time. This one pleased me.

8. Superlongevity 1, 2, 3
Click, click whirr.

9. My soundcard, a copy of clean and some spare time (wishful thinking). I am to change the local pub’s playlist.

10. The Rough Guide to Reggae. Thanks to you lot for recommending a Rough Guide – I never thought I would own one.

this is thread is fantastic, everyone is so careful to delicately irritate the format and not look like another victim of compulsive listmaking disorder (dsm IV 33413.454 a-e) ;-)

francesco wins for the citation of the scelsi quartets though
