tbf the idea of a GOP candidate winning a respectable portion of the Hispanic vote as recently as 8 years does sound so far-fetched that it probably surprises a lot of people. the GOP's position with minorities has consistently and across the board - O also won the Asian vote at historical levels this year - gotten worse since 2004. and that's even w/o the demographic tipping point that we're either nearing or
may have already passed. remember, GW was actually pretty sympathetic to immigration reform - granted the DREAM Act ain't exactly perfect, but still - which has become a total no-fly zone for the GOP candidates. and we already discussed above how the angry white guy/Tea Partying of the GOP has made it harder to attract non-white voters. hence the looming GOP "identity cliff" which will only become worse barring major changes.
