dreamy, hazy jazz

So precise yet so laid back in his movement. So nonchalant yet so intentional and commanding in the phrasing. That hazy yet intimate timbre, such a sublime comforting presence.

Most romantic piece of music I know about.

I like crazy free jazz fireworks but also LOVE that sort of dreamy, hazy jazz. would love to get recommendations of albums (by miles or anyone else) that are primarily that sound. I have some Stan Getz that come close but have a few upbeat numbers that break the mood.

I'm currently watching the PBS documentary (dir. ken burns) on the history of jazz. Only got up to Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, etc. so not sure how it evolved from that maniacally fast, toe-tapping music to become this slow, meditative stuff. But I can't wait to find out!

The Miles ones are more like magic realism. Day dreaming about mystical beautiful women from another land.

The Don Cherry is psychedelic dreaming. Surreallism. Shapeless and free. The women are drawn by Picasso.
