How are the parks in your area? Are they rough as in where I used to live in Birmingham or are they nice where you can do recreational things?

Mapperley Park has a swathe of green space plus a pitch and putt actually worth playing (and I despise golf but look at how much fun I’m having below))

There's a park near me in Kidderminster, safe enough for me to go fishing there on my own and not worry about thugs, but more to the point, I caught a 'specimen' 3lb 14oz Crucian Carp there the other day. The record is only 4lb 12oz and 4lb pure breed Crucians are a rare fish.
