Stop politicism

- Political affiliation has more neurological correlates than some other protected characteristics. Protected characteristics are those that are deemed to be impossible or very hard change, with no good reason to change them anyway.
- Therefore, it should be a protected characteristic.
- Criticising someone for being Conservative or Labour, Democrat or Republican, is like criticising them for being gay or straight; it should be a hate crime.
- Trying to change someone's vote on their doorstep is conversion therapy. It should be banned.
- Not providing an outlet for political values is discriminatory and should be banned.
- Expecting that everybody share your political values is like expecting everybody to be straight. It's not gonna happen. Just deal with it.
- People who discriminate on the basis of politics are politicists and practice politicism. This is as bad as racism.

Not it's not
It's politiphobia. Literally hundreds of millions of people have been killed from politiphobia. When it gets out of control you have one political faction seeking to exterminate the other - that is also what happens at the extreme of racism.

Politiphobia is a challenge for every society regardless of the racial mix. Relationships are far more likely to be homopolitic, showing that politiphobia corrodes at the micro as well as the macro level.

You can change your sexual orientation or gender identification but the change comes from within; political change comes from internal change e.g. ageing, which shifts people conservative. That's why political change is slow and even watertight logical arguments are highly unlikely to move someone to an extreme position.

Political campaigning should be better thought of as offering people different types of glove to see which fits their hand, rather than trying to change the size of their hand.
