Who were the best? Who did you listen to? He's before my time, but there's something comfortable about old Art Bell broadcasts. The comments are full of reminiscences from long time listeners echoing the sentiment.

I never felt lonely working my night shifts at the hospital when Art was alive. My unit ( oncology and palliative care) isn’t for the faint of heart. No matter how bad my shift was, Art’s soothing and comforting voice helped me through the night. The other viewers/ listeners always felt like my people, my tribe. I loved the crazy, nutty callers as much as the 20 year old Veteran caller. The past 2 years haven’t been easy on any of us. It made me miss Art even more. Now I listen to reruns and try to find comfort in them. My faithful companion is gone and dearly missed. Godspeed Art!

You already get people talking with fondness of old podcast episodes like this, Joe Rogan and Cum Town stuff from five or six years ago.

He did do that one show with Lydon on Capital where he played Can, mind you.

One of the things I like is just the sound of a voice on an old broadcast, love the way this one sounds. They both have great voices in general too.

Mark and Lard when they were on late night were pretty good as far as the BBC goes, in my time, before they got "promoted" to the breakfast show.

oh look it's GEN and COSEY ^. ( i.e., GENESIS P-ORRIDGE and COSEY FANNI TUTTI from THROBBING GRISTLE, I feel I may have to spell this shit out for the non pensioners here )

* obviously I'm joking to a slight extent, but "strangers in the night" may be one of the best live RAWK albums EVER? I know I spent an enjoyable evening with THE LOVE OV MY LIFE singing along, albeit out of tune and off beat, to DOCTOR DOCTOR...etyc

A tragic lad who went on to work for BBC regional radio rented a house off a mate who may or may not have had a grow on in said property, could’ve been next door let’s not get too specific

Anyway, check this for a guest voice i can hear the sexual frustration in his voice even here too, poor cunt

old Tommy Vance radio rrrrrrrrock sssssshow shit
He used to have a segment on his show called THE ROCK WAR, which started off with military drumming and helicopter noise, where he'd play three bands' demos and then you could ring in and vote for the best. "THE ROCK WAR...ACT ONE!...Act one on THE ROCK WAR tonight is LORD CRUCIFIER...they come from Waltham Cross and include TEZ HOOF on bass...DAVE 'ANTICHRIST' WHITBY-DESFORGES on lead guitar..." etc. But during the '91 Gulf War they dropped the helicopters and rebranded it THE ROCK CHALLENGE.

Wasn't there some early morning Radio 1 show where Vance kept playing Welcome To Hell by Venom on repeat until they'd raised a certain amount for Children In Need.?

Looking back on John Peel, he made us sit through hours of shit by The Wedding Present and The Delgados, so fuck him.
