Pirate radio implicated in Birmingham riot

One of the news channels reported that the police were investiging whether or not local pirate radio stations had incited people to riot over the weekend. Has this been confirmed elsewhere? All I can find are a couple of stories in the Mirror.

"Word outta street is that today (Sunday 23 October 2005), members from Johnson Crew and Burger Bar have met to call a truce to recent gang warfare and untie against any attacks from the pakistani community. I did see a copy of New Nation in the newsagents, and that referenced the radio station and the DJ Warren G, so it's not just The Mirror. Can't add any more than that, though.

Caught something on a black London radio station last night, not sure which one (turned off pretty quick), about this incident. Highly emotive language. Talk of the 'Taliban youths'. And of Ramadan being a factor.

Alarming how these unsubstantiated rumours have spread and the stereotypes/language being used.

Haven't been to Birmingham for a long time, but it does seem all the money spent on the Bullring and getting new Selfridges could have been put to better use elsewhere in the city.

Pirate radio has never been the place for reasoned debate. It's very unsurprising if a lot of the inflamatory language has come from that kind of media.

There's also been a fair amount of unsavoury stuff on British Council-supported black "cultural" websites.

Guardian article on race riots. Summary- we don't know, and we'll never know if anything like a rape happened.

It's a bit alarming that The Voice ran a story on the rape, but the reporter Veron Graham, now says: "I'm starting to feel that there is no such girl. Even people I spoke to are distancing themselves". So they ran a story simply based, I guess, on what the word on the street was? That's risky.
