Brixton, London

Cycled through Brixton a couple of times recently and found the place a shadow of its former self. Coldharbour Lane late on a Saturday morning and all the shop fronts had shutters down (presume shops closed down). This is a real sharp contrast to 7 or 8 years ago when Brixton felt like a mini London centre of its own. Has London's cultural axis simply moved East or are there lots going on off the beaten track that way?

I wasn't here 7 or 8 years ago, but Brixton still functions as a centre on its own - you can pretty much get everything you need in terms of clothes, food etc, and more people seem to come here for a night out than most other equivalent spots in London...

That's not to say it wasn;t more vibrant in the past - just that it's not lost its spark just yet.
