The Engaged Mobile Orchestra is an open collective who use mobile phone devices to create group-improvised multimedia pieces as a form of electronic expression.
"The City" is an experimental multi-media piece inspired by the sights and sounds of Dublin city created using audio and visuals collected, using mobile devices, by the members of the Engaged Mobile Orchestra. The Orchestra will perform the piece using mobile phones as the primary instruments. A pre-recorded soundtrack will provide the basis of the piece and the projected visuals will act as a visual score. All you need to join the Engaged Orchestra is a (fully charged!) mobile phone of any description, which you will use as an instrument.
A workshop will be held that will explore the sound making capabilities of the mobile phones and how these sounds can be incorporated into the performance later that day.
Don't worry - you don't need to play an instrument!
