Is this the end of the Reagan/Rove right?

Where are you getting that from? You need a better argument than just saying "false".
It is weird to have all this stuff about her daughter being pregnant or her husband having a drink driving conviction from twenty years ago in the news though - what the hell has that got to do with anything?

Its American politics. They have to focus on stuff like 'character', 'family', 'values' and 'background' in order to deflect attention away form the fact that the main differences between all the candidates are mostly minor deviations on social issues.

Of course. It's just that some part of me naively expects or at least hopes the Democrats to be somewhere vaguely near the moral high ground on this kind of thing.

Oh Christ, the GOP have perfcted the art of fighting dirty with immense success. Watching their supporteers squirm at the at the assault on Palin is the funniest thing I've seen since the last time the italians were complaining about a dodgy referee.

(Although i agree there's nothing to be gained by going for a candidate's family).

yeah jesus, ask bill clinton. i'm not saying it's justified that that the dems have sunk to the gop's level.. just highly amusing that they're taking umbrage at it.

Palin thinks the world is 6000 years old, ffs.

She should be living in the woods and getting interviewed by Louis Theroux, not nominated for vice prez!

You're all furious with her for existing - I can feel it.

now that you mention it, sarah palin 20 years older was this art teacher i had for high school in Dallas, TX, wife of a baptist pastor, 4 year running winner of teacher's award in the county, who gave long and tiresome tirades against Robert Maplethorpe; who preached that the only appropriate subject matter for art are "positive" ones like sunsets and flowers; who relentlessly persecuted me for 3 years, for voicing different opinions and making slayer drawings (mine were like, really good and scary); who sent me to the district school counselor for "being in a satanic cult" every friday afternoon.

an invaluable mentor really, because from her i learned just how deep the hypocracy and pure unadulterated, i hate to use this word because it belongs to them but for lack of better, EVIL can run.

god i hated that self righteous nazi bitch from hell...

You sound quite unhinged Zhao, she must've left some scars.

yes it was certainly a formative experience. but unlike others who have had similar, i grew out of my teenage hatred of religion, and have come to respect and value all spiritual traditions, and try to learn from them as much as i can. (not to be confused with the pernicious hypocrisy and fascist self righteousness people like Palin try to pass off as religion.)

Pfft, I have to wonder how many of her class would have heard of Robert Maplethorpe if it hadn't been for her...

She used to be called Sarah Barracuda you know, because of her hockey-playing technique. Now some Republican party people have started calling her Sarah America! It's absolutely terrific. How can you not like this shit?
