There's a future that london's been hiding from.

it can be seen in the pitchfork androgyny of young thug. in the boo hoo minstrel smile of quavo. in the bleach of kartel's skin. in lil wayne's skateboard.

it is an autotune future. a post-gender future. a post-human future.

it is abstract and abstracted. dissociative. it rejects concrete. it rejects weight. it is the cold glare of an iphone screen in a dark bedroom. it is viscous. it is spastic.

london could not entertain this future as presented by atlanta. it couldn't entertain this future when presented by africa. it couldn't entertain this future when presented by jamaica. until now perhaps.

tommy lee is this future. he's absorbed young thug. he's absorbed cloud rap. he's absorbed wayne and kartel and alkaline. and yet... there is a humanity there. there is aggression and mania. yearning. ego. drive.

tommy lee is the human future. whether london embraces him or not is yet to be seen.

whatever future is awaiting london, one thing is for sure.

it'll be glorious.

Barty just played me this guy last time he was over thinking I would hate it but I was transfixed. He's incredible. This amazing schizophrenic character which is as barti says such a central part of this future London has been hiding from, which it can't absorb, can't entertain, can't digest. These very fluid changes of identity within the song, different voices emerging, taking possession of the mouth and body
