Liza was supposed to be meeting a friend for drinks or food or something on Fri but this girl said that on Thursday she is going to visit a friend who is infected in a deliberate attempt to catch it herself and thus - she believes - avoid needing a jab.
She told Liza she would take a test after and cancel their meeting if it came out positive. But L said (to me) fuck that, what if it's too soon for the test and it comes out negative but she is actually positive?
She's got a point. Despite our healthy lifestyles, we are now of an age where c19 is a virtual death sentence.... seems crazy and irresponsible for this girl to actually try and get it, and unfair given that if she catches it she could pass it on to someone more vulnerable (she's like 28).
The French here are all strongly antivax to the point where it feels that there is a definite thing going on. I mean, it's not just anecdotal, if I meet someone who is French is almost safe to assume that they will be antivax. Is there less vaccine take up in France than elsewhere or is this just a part of the culture in their expat scene here in Lisbon?
