"Mexican pornography is an interesting island of thought because they seem to be heavily into excretory functions. The traditional American view is that anything issued from the body is dirty. It's incredibly puritanical and it resents bodily fluids, so if one is trying to debase a woman, you cover them with that and hence you get the fabulous term 'Golden Showers' – the term for pissing on someone, which some well- known rock musicians are said to be very involved in..."

Here come the warm jets?

"That's certainly a reference."
It has a girl pissing on the cover

bandz ahoy
I read a Brian Eno biography. I can't really remember it now but I remember he came across as a bit of a tosser. OTOH it did introduce me to a lot of good music.

I love On Some Faraway Beach.... sublime beauty, but created by a schoolgirl urine fan. Oh well art artist etc etc
I really like this one too. Annoying one to get hold of cos (I believe) it's only on the box-set so if you want to get it on vinyl you have to either buy the whole thing or get someone to split it and sell you the disc with this one. Which makes it all the more annoying that it seems to be yet another record I have lost...

on top of the perviness he comes across as a man very much in love with his own interestingness
I was struck by this too. Sorta in the same family as manic pixie dreamgirl. A personality organized around quirky opinions and bizarre objects

if I were forced to name an all-time favorite band, it would probably be Roxy. you've done an impressive job of mapping things out here, Gus, kudos.
Back when Leo and I were pals.

ferry solo career pretty spectacular and cherished as well, but a different animal.
What's a weird solo career cut from Ferry? I know the main albums, I think—Another Time Another Place, These Foolish Things. Obviously there are a lot of Roxy re-recordings. But is there anything left-field you recommend? Sorta whacky or unexplainable, that I might otherwise not look into? Buried gems? Underrated LPs?

I always recognize good work, Gus. You've had your share.

His solo stuff isn't all that weird, compared to early Roxy. Started out with a fairly straight-forward rock band format with all-star musicians (so, more Chris Spedding than Phil Manzanera in sound), which in itself was a surprising change at the time for him. He then moved on to the more sleek late-period Roxy sound that @craner loves (he's probably a good source for Ferry deep cuts).

I do like the tight rendition of the title track and lounge-y versions of five Roxy tracks on "Let's Stick Together", but again nothing too left field. I stopped paying attention to his albums after "Boys and Girls", so can't help you since then.

I'm going to remember that first sentence for a long time. I might have to put it in a scrapbook. Or as my board sig.
