sampling bits of his own tunes feels a bit half arsed and unimaginative. Heard at least one callback to something off Untrue and it struck me as the kind of superficial 'Easter egg' YouTube essayists get excited about in a lot of media these days.
He's been doing that for years, since not long after Untrue. I actually love that idea, the repeated motifs. I reckon he got it from Goldie who used to do it a lot very effectively I think

I'd noticed him re-using specific sounds in the past, like the sample of his brother's lighter and the shopping trollies, but in this one it sounded like he re-used a snippet of one of the vocals and it took me out of it, like using a Burial soundboard full of stock sounds.

yeah that's what I mean too. he did that on some of the EPs and remixes following untrue, like towards the end of a track there'd be a callback using the same vocal sample from endorphin or whatever. I love it though

although to be fair trance is a very south london (particularly brixton sound.) You don't get any of that round finsbury park way.

I'm sure now @Pearsall will tell me I'm wrong and there was a crusty finsbury park trance scene in 1997 but I'm sticking with trance being suitable for the sarf london temperament for now.

I mean I didn't even know this abomination existed until I saw it in the tracklist of that mix.

Very much white weedhead in south london music. It's not even a race thing before sus goes psycho. It just is. White weedheads in North East and West don't listen to this. It's the proximity to Kent, I think.

"Battle of the Future Buddhas,"

🤣

When he does a mix with kode nine it's always so weird. Like the most goldsmiths thing ever. Moments of utter brilliance juxtaposed with utter shite.

Great album, especially the first two tracks. Trance does not need to be fast!

This record is real Frankfurter style....The A track sounds like rumbling galloping bisons with dark and sinister techno sounds like buzzing bees through my speakers, when playing this A track.
