I'd say Scouse House wasn't even music for kids on pills more pop music played in (pre-88-style) mainstream clubs where the majority are just on booze. I wouldn't be surprised if Basshunter somehow got into this thread just because it's got "Bass" in the name! Even in Liverpool Scouse House is played in clubs attracting a pretty different crowd to those who you'd find at a hard house/trance club (when they were big) who obviously were kids on pills...
I always remember reading some article (pre house)where James Hamilton (the dj and writer who helped popularise mixing in this country) said that Liverpool and Newcastle were the only urban areas of England that didn't have an "urban" music scene to speak of. Which I thought was pretty surprising in the former case considering its proximity to Wigan! Although I know its often said that Liverpool is like a different country in many ways to Lancashire (and the rest of England) just a few miles down the road...

The only people who are in Scouse House clubs these days are kids on pills or coke. Pleasure Rooms, Isis, Sunrise, even the old 051 before it got shut down, you can't move for people sledging.
The likes of garlands etc are definitely on a different vibe but the actual scouse house places are people just fucked for the most part.

To be honest i was thinking they were still like a couple of places I went to around there 2 or 3 years ago when I first heard the term "scouse house" they just seemed like pretty mainstream places playing a vaguely distinctive type of pop-dance...but yeah things move on and I'm already well out of date...

Nah, you're right, there are those places but that's not really the music itself to be honest. You've got the pop-house that's played in a lot of the shittier bars and the odd multi-purpose club (hip hop, 3rd floor!) etc., but the actual Scouse-House clubs are a lot faster, the music is a lot harder. Drove by the pills as well, I guess.
It's odd, though, the MCs in the scene are stuck into the old slightly american voice, nothing really interesting in the lyrics, just shitty rave bars I guess.

I dunno, I've been a few times and will again when there's literally nothing else going on or I'm dragged along on a work night out or whatever. It's a weird little thing to step into for an hour or so.
