this is really impressive, craner, kudos. a level of research and analysis worthy of publication in a major media outlet.

in the "elites" section, I'd say she should take some responsibility for her actions. like trump, there's the reoccurring lament of victimhood and grievances, nothing is ever their fault. it's quite a stretch to view someone next in line to be the most powerful person in the world as "set up" for being asked in an interview what newspapers they read. none of couric's question were actual "gotchas", were they?

I know, and I don't disagree. Part of the point of that section was to describe the source of her world-historic sense of grievance and her hatred of the press.

funny that both schmidt and Wallace are now mainstays on liberal MSNBC. he's been an occasional contributor for awhile but she's a rising star, first given her own daily show and recently moved to a better time slot and expanded to two hours. she's actually fairly insightful. he's smart but a bit over the top in his never trumpism (a cofounder of The Lincoln Project).
