I think it'd be great fun to write an erotic novel that starts out as the sort of melodramatic suburban S&M-lite that apparently goes down a storm with middle-aged women and then very gradually morphs into this hallucinatory, Burroughs-esque homoerotic body-horror or a snufftastic Sadean rape-fest. You could publish it onine, chapter by chapter, to get people hooked, then gradually crank up the weirdness.

Apparently people aren't slagging off 50SoG because it's appallingly written rubbish about a pathetic idiot who lets a total douchebag treat her like shit - it's because most of its readers are women. Thank god Laurie Penny is here to set us straight.

Edit: always amuses me how certain women journos love to pretend female masturbation is some sort of unspoken ultra-taboo secret that the average male would rather commit seppuku than contemplate.
