idea for a dissensus zine:

'the last posts'

it would be a compilation of all the last posts of various dissensus members, famous and not so famous

part of the problem with doing a dissensus zine is how do you filter it. this idea would give you a mechanical process for doing so

i don't understand the appeal of zines. they sound kind of cute and quaint, like a scrapbook for adults

they are an affectation in todays age it is true, but to me now, having made a few, there a good format to think in: small scale, handmade, pictures and words together

Zines are also essential for the maintaining of DIY spaces. I get the feeling that they are rarely read and operate more as the token given for making a charitable donation. Ive been to many cool independent bookstores/artist co-ops/venues and etc. that are zine centric.

Not that no one is reading zines, but there are alot of zines out there, and you gotta imagine few get attention beyond that of the creator and whatever small circle of friends they have

Someone in the D&G server runs a zine through Medium, if that counts?

I feel like that's just a blog. Really the only difference between a zine and a blog is that a zine is physical, but that's an important distinction- zines as physical objects can support The Scene. This is just how I've primarily interacted with zines though

the last zine i made, what i really like about it, is i only used photocopying, no computers at all. each one hand made, there are 3 complete copies in existence.

I think it is and it isn't. The line's blurred somewhat as they seem to publish "issues" rather than individual posts as and when.
you do get online zines, but its not really the same. i'm with linebaugh on this, its about the physical object.

I've chewed on making a zine as a means of finagling my way into a riso printing space
