I've informed Barty of the situation and he reccomends you have S-E-X with singleton (f) making sweet love to the break of dawn.

He wants you to know that he strongly urges you to pursue this course of action and he will be very disappointed in you if you don't.

its sound advice. God gets upset when his gifts are spurned. He tends to exact a terrible retribution for any ingratitude

"Singelton (f), would you mind if I leave the matter undecided, 'superpositional', instead of collapsing its flutteriness into a single point, a single answer? Thanks. And love that top, you look great in that color. Care to go for a walk after lunch?"

I recently watched a few Robert Sapolsky lectures and interviews and one of the things he was saying was that the more we learn about the human brain, the more we realise free will doesn't really exist. He also said things we thought were unique to our brains have turned out not to be and that they've been found in chimps and whatever else.

It's perhaps comforting to think anything bad or stupid you might do isn't entirely your fault, but it's also unsettling to think you may not actually be in control.

One extreme example he gave was cases of people who've developed tumors in certain parts of the brain and subsequently done things totally out of character for them, like having an affair or killing someone.

Stan was talking about him on here a while back. You can watch his full 'Human Behavioral Biology' course at Stanford on YouTube.

Had a long chat the other day with a freelancer I work with, and she mentioned her cousin who'd suffered brain damage after a moped accident, and had lost all inhibitions about sex. So, after the crash, he would be chatting to people from work, or at family gatherings, and saying, "Yeah had a good weekend, paid a couple of call girls to come around for sex - how about you?" or "Yeah, just been looking at porn and masturbating" - with no intention of trolling...he'd just lost all sense of social norms.

There's an interesting clip of Sapolsky talking to Joe Rogan about toxoplasmosis. Apparently it's estimated around half the global population's infected with it and there's an unusually high number of infected people who end up in high speed motor accidents as it can remove inhibitions around risk.

Supposedly the latter occurs because the parasite rewires the brains of rodents so that rather than being instinctively afraid of cats, they actually become attracted to them and will run toward cat urine etc so that the parasite can get itself into the cat. Sapolsky suggests the parasite's having a similar effect on the human brain in terms of dulling or reversing the sense of risk, hence infected people ending up in accidents.
