For me deep tech is like dubstep (though I was much more info dubstep) in that when I was into it it sounded and seemed exciting but now I very rarely if ever listen to it.
Perhaps because both were (to me) very functional genres, connected with the ever present prospect of going clubbing, and so divorced from that context they sound too stripped back and austere to be of much interest.
Going to a deep tech night in Tottenham in (again I don't know the year, maybe 2015?) was the most exciting club experience I'd had since going to DMZ and FWD back in 2007. And increasingly it looks like it's the LAST exciting club experience I'll ever have. Get your tiny violins out for the lads.
