I like it, but I'm new to the dancehall thing. The bits that it gets slagged off for are the bits I like : wap wap wap wap wap wap wap wap, shell shell shell shell shell shell shell. It's often like that I think, the things that people like and don't like about a tune are the same thing, the thing which is distinctive. That tune is obviously getting a bit of backlash - and yeah fair enough, it's a good example of Skilli's laziness we've talked about before - but I take Dancehall Mag's stance on it with a slight pinch of salt tbh. There are still a bunch of people defending it in the comments, and generally DM's stance is quite conservative, or has grown to be, and they love a Skillibeng pile on even when it doesn't make sense e.g. the announcement of the Nicki Minaj Crocodile Teeth remix. Just look at their gushing over Jahshii performing with a live band the other day. At the same time, it's been a bit of a slow start to the year for dancehall imo - maybe that's partly a product of the rush of releases that seemed to come at the end of last year (not everyone is as productive as Squash and Chronic Law), but I'm also hoping it's not some sort of result of a growing backlash/tiredness with trap dancehall, with DM's stance being an indication of that. Just think how many slow mawkish piano tunes we've had to put up with in 2022 so far.

i don't know how you didn't expect this cause dancehalls been MASSIVE in Africa for a while now, they got Stonebwoy and dem man over there doing it and you got guys like Wizkid and Burna Boy who their music whose some debt to the genrein nairobi a guy came to fix the internet in my room and i had some dancehall on, he recognized it from the first bar and said 'ah you like dancehall?' and then told me that it's massive in Kenya, which I didn't expect
you MUST'VE heard Sean Paul,Wayne Wonder or one or two of the big Beenie Man tunes from the 2000sI like it, but I'm new to the dancehall thing. i'd say neither and my man just this weird black castrato thing going on inna him headbut it could just as easily be drastially declining T rates due to estrogen in chicken and soy products or something. take your pick.
