Top 20:
Autechre: natch
Downwards: I had a brief love affair with all this techno. No concessions.
Factory: best label
Happy Mondays: natch, one of the best bands
Iration Steppers: I own no music by them but have been to a few subdubs and it's always quality
Joker: for digidesign alone what a tune
LFO: for LFO alone
Regis: idiot but at least he's having fun
Section 25: recent discovery
Smith and Mighty: those bacharach covers
Surgeon: seen him live a lot
T2: heartbroken
The Fall: natch
The Orbit: classic working class techno, I was so scared thd first time I went
The Pop Group: I love Mark Stewart, one of my favourites
The Stone Roses: I feel like I've been tricked into liking them after the infamous classic albums thread
Tricky: all time greatest artist
Unique 3: inspired
Warp: really shit recently, they've not managed the transition out of listening at home electronics.
Young Marble Giants: all time classic band, one perfect album.

Bottom 10:
ABC: too fey, I prefer flock of seagulls from that sort of era
Bolt Thrower: never heard of them but not keen on the name. Very arrogant.
Chemikal Underground: this is mogwai and co? Rubbish, never understood the appeal of this Glasgow indie
Cream (the superclub): I only went once, music was crap
Echo and the Bunnymen: overrated, only got one good song
Franz Ferdinand: just terrible. Can't beleive they even got mentioned.
Kasabian: not keen on promoting this sort of thing
Kowton: one of those pointless dubstep people? Who would care if kowton never existed?
Lighthouse Family: we can't condone this
S-X woo riddim: not a very good riddim
Sting: come off it

Worst

Bonnie Tyler
Kasabian
Oasis (except for 'champagne supernova' and a couple of others)
Sisters of Mercy

i couldn't work up much acrimony - even the above, their existence doesn't bother me really - like I almost put Cream but I then thought, 'well a lot of people had the time of their lives there'.

once i would have used a term like 'culture criminal' for a lot of things but with actual evil criminals and aspiring fascists running rampant over everything, it seems a bit daft to get in a righteous lather about people with misguided aesthetics
