Zero-Budget Sci-Fi short film that has the same concept as Grounhog Day

Does anyone know a sci-fi short film that has the same basic concept as Groundhog Day in that someone is doomed to relive the same day again and again? I think it's done more like sci-fi than schmaltz and it doesn't have that smug prick in it, but there was some suggestion that it may have "inspired" the more famous film. Anyway, I'm trying to remember the name... anyone can help me out? Cheers in advance.

Not sure about this you're talking about but there is the John Belushi sci-fi film "Retroactive" which plays on the Groundhog Day idea in a time-travel in the desert kind of way

Reviews aren't great but i think they're wrong, just a daft little film but its got a lot going for it
