I am guessing free tekno is the kind of stuff they play at those ketamine-fueled, traveler free teknivals (Spiral Tribe descendants). Crystal Distortion and french hard tekno and the like.

ona tangent have you seen how much hard techno and stuff like spiral tribe records go for on ebay- big money ..
seems to be in opposition to their anarchic ideals ..

i liked the backwards track that made my old mate olly throw up

yeah, that spiral tribe/network 23 stuff goes for an arm and a leg...don't think they're exactly in control of the market price of their records, tho...

btw...the french seem to make some weird fucking music (im thinking of spiral tribe, hangars liquides, cavage, etc)...must have great drugs over there...

as well as my avatar i like olde fashionde stuff like this<img src="http://www.samholloway.co.uk/Images/Records/Fontana.jpg"> - i just love that logo.

mmmmmm, nice. specially like the 'island castle, surrounded by moat, connected by bridges' effect of the cut-out....

there's a certain phase of Island label from the mid-70s, that's really nice, not the more famous, boring palm tree one, but one that looks a bit like a Jamaican biscuit tin or something -- i can't really describe it. more like a pattern on a towel or something! the colours are a bit jamaican-painted-sign like but not as faded/retro/vintage as the kind of blood'n'fire type graphics

yes the McDonald and Giles one is the one i'm thinking of

the early ones are nice too though

those free tekno ones were really cool. i used to have a bunch of spiral tribe & allies late period teknival-tools type tracks, i got rid of them i think, for like virtually nothing -- totally kicking myself now!

As far as I can make out from all the eBay auctions I've lost for copies of the "Forward The Revolution" EP, there seems to be an almost unlimited supply of people in France and Germany willing to pay EU100+ for an original Spiral Tribe 12" (even the CDs go for over EU70). I'm kind of amazed that someone hasn't reissued them to cash in (at least the Big Life stuff which I'm sure is well out of the control of whatever remains of Spiral Tribe). I don't think they've even been bootlegged.
