i was asked to write up a case study of a young person affected by form 696, so i spoke to tristan from 'project urban' (if anyone remembers that one). threw up a couple of surprising specific insights into the way the met operate:

They said they'd seen two of the artists, Bashy and Ghetts, on YouTube having an MC battle that got a bit heated. Bashy disses Ghetts about having been in jail. The video was from several years ago, but the Metropolitan Police said it meant there was rivalry and they saw a risk the two artists were going to bring gangs down. Bashy and Ghetts featured on songs together after that occasion - and these 'battles' are just for hype and promotion anyway.

Meanwhile they said one of Chipmunk's crew members had been involved in a stabbing at the Urban Music Awards.Chipmunk's not been convicted of anything. I wonder if he even knows he's being branded like that by the police.

speaking of swindle, theres a funky remix of air miles thats great (heard it on some funky show recently), whoever did it.
that newham gens track on logans show is allllright but that badness and shizzle track - WOW.

wiley's instrumental cd is just brilliant.
guy was a total genius.

very confusing to have a *new* streetfighter riddim. still, it's nice with dee on it
i got sent devlin + giggs' label debut collab this morning. it is SO shit. i'm probably one of about 500 people who bought 'tempo specialists', and most of the tunes on there were way better than it - equally commercial and hook-driven, and not even that good, just better. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

thats not the old sf2 riddim dizzee produced though is it? that sounds like some new electro/dubstep thing. dees better than the beat imo.

Capcom allowed DJ Swerve to use the samples and he wasn't aware of the original when he made it, he was going to give it away but then it got to D Double who liked it. maybe he should have used another name.

fucking hell, its must be shit. I remember the day I got tempo specialists & realised I'd never see that £6 again

i need to listen to a new grime set (with mcs) from somewhere. are the roll deep/bbk sets on rinse any good these days? also, its a bit sad bbk are the only grime crew that ever get booked for those rinse nights at matter. be good to see some others down there too.

lol. it's pure CHEESE but i like bits of it okay. they tried to write hooks and choruses and as much as the bait hiphop 2006 thing was the death knell of pirate radio crew-based energy, it wasn't all bad. this, for example, is just obviously better than devlin's single on xl...

gumdrops i know what you mean about matter.. but matter's shit anyway. apparently ruff sqwad are (probably) coming back to rinse. now that's good news.
