Actually, after digging the album out I realize I jumped the gun in making fun of "!!!!!!"...it actually does hold up well (and flows really nicely into "Sacrifice").

Their guitarist Ben Kenny seems to have toured with Incubus (!?) and was the catalyst for the track. There's the expected Minor Threat and Bad Brains mentions, but I wasn't familiar with Zach De La Rocha's work in Inside Out before at all.

The Inside Out 7" is one of the best examples of the late 80s californian HC sound. It's fantastic. 108, the guitarist's band forgotten his name) were also pretty good and certainly more ground breaking. But they were a krishna band and that put me right off.

jello biafra (ex-dead kennedys) appeared on ice t's 'iceberg album' - i think in the late 80's both rap and punk were both under the eye of the christian right-wing wannabe censors. they appeared on oprah together too...

i think it's jello's voice who says the words 'fear of a black planet' on public enemy's third album.
