I'd be gutted if I was Defoe or Wright-Philips but picking a guy who hasn't played in front of the top scoring Englishman (I think) seems down-right contrary. Bent would be in the team if he played for a big club - that's the only reason that Crouch plays, no-one mentioned him in connection with England until he moved to Liverpool and it's not as if he's scored loads of goals either to force his way into the team.
