landed on my doorstep yesterday - it's massive, and has all the tunes he used for all his shows - vital data for 'kowenz fanbois

any thoughts? You got yours yet?

Not yet - breath bated... Just putting a month of walking around Rome and Florence in what amounts to a dress behind me and finally settling into the Berger for an all-too-brief brief autumn.

In Rome there is a shop called Degli Effetti who have a semi-private showroom thing called The Apartment. It's like a wee mini-branch of RO retail. Beautiful alligator-skin jacket sighted and pawed but sadly not taken back to the holiday rental. Copped a nice knit, though. This last one for the lady but somehow conferring equal pleasure to anyone who takes it between thumb and forefinger.

@Black Tulip - Ha, well I wouldn't know about that! I've never had the chance to fondle that badass binding.

It's good, first impression though is that some of the essays and interviews are a bit hard to read because of the font and typesetting - just way stylized, good, but regular style scripts in the back on non glossy paper would've been my preference.

It's a bitch to store - I don't have many books this size.

Have you ever looked at some/things - im looking forward to a delivery of those, maybe your kinda thing too.

On the some/things note - although maybe not quite clothes relevant.

Bielskyte's 'A Place to Wash the Heart' photos are just mind-blowing.

Her website seems to be down, but there is this:

I wish that I wore more jewellery but I never have enough money to drop on nice things. Especially since I want old things.

I admire luka's taste in rings though.

black tulip - the first 3 three some/things arrived today, I need to collect the 4 and 5 editions from the post office tomorrow - they are epic, seriously, if you dig the whole goth ninja shite, dark silhouettes and stuff then consider getting one...

Great thing. Will definitely get them at some point - right now I just have the second last one with the Rick photo special. Particularly interested in the fragrance sample with the new one - apparently most people hate it - awaiting your impressions!

I didn't get any free fragrance with mine :-( - Can't see any where inside that the fragrance should go either - I the article/piece for the Rick Owens Dead Lillies is awesome though, really etherial black and white photographs of some Moreau paintings with JK Huysmans and Thomas de Quincy text over them.... really amazing work, had me googling Moreau all night but it's the black and white reproductions that hold the magic, marvellous stuff.

There's also some pretty jaw dropping photos from Steve Curry, David Maisel and Bernhard Edmaier, Naoya Hatakeyama.... Issue 005 comes in a pretty substantial black box (I hope all later issues come boxed like this)...and has it's own Rick Owens cashmere sleeve!

edit - one last thing, it's quite interesting to try and track back the aesthetic influences with designers, there's some discussions on SZ about the cali facet of Owens looks (hole... courtney love etc).... I can't help but think back to brett anderson (of suede) and see him rocking a woman's blouse at the brits through animal nitrate.... check out the video on you tube... all most seems like a blueprint for a lot of these alternative muted hued designers..

Well, the writeup says scented fabric. I guess it's the cashmere? Sniff it and see. =)

Went to the Moreau museum in Paris in January. Some very memorable sights there. Even the building itself is remarkable: the central floor, formerly his studio, is a space of epic grandeur. Finished works and several in progress cover the walls from floor to ceiling.

Problem is I've got short legs, so I just end up looking like a cowboy from a Benny Hill sketch. Actually, mixing them with DMs probably didn't help....

Just feel good about yourself. And feel beautiful and be confident whatever you are wearing of course as long as it fits your size will look good. Also if you have short legs wear something that will give the illusion of having a long one. Just like me I have a short body so I wear blouses that are long so my body will long a bit, try it yourself.
