This interview is just immense, I'd read it before but don't remember it having been such a heavy depiction of where the Ghost sound came from. The Horsepower one in the same archive is fascinating too.

S: "Do you want to be doing the rounds, getting out and about DJing and stuff? Or are you happy in the studio and keeping your distance."

E: "Well I don't drive and I'm not heavy, you know what I mean. I'm not ruthless. I can stick up for myself but I can't take a big man out. And all that 'waiting till the end of the night to get paid' shit. Fuck that."

Was it normal back then for producers to be talking like this?

Yes. There was more money in records back then.

Happy memories of reading that interview when it first came out.

Started doing the ragga techno soon after that, sizzla / the destroyer refix in 2001, then culture killer in 2002.

Way of the future
S: "When we spoke recently, Lemon D & Dillinja emphasized that their major gripe with drum'n'bass was it was too fast and that they were trying to pull things back down to 160bpm. And then they suggested that in 2 years time, Zinc and Hype's breakbeat stuff would have accelerated from 140bpm to 150 and Valve will have drifted down to 150 from 160bpm and they would be like, 'what the fuck are you doing here?'

I'm still waiting for this too happen!

But it's funny how much these guys decision to do garage comes from them not being allowed to enter the "boys club" that is/was drum & bass.

So, is anyone else heading for the roots of dubstep room at Whynot?
It's a pretty mouthwatering line-up, Steve Gurley's the one for me. Can't wait!

Listening to it AGAIN.

As good a notion as it is, Kulture sampling Obama just seems lame to me... Maybe I'm just a hater though.
