You're probably Vitamin D and Zinc deficient if it's lingering like that. I take 5 or 6 Vitamin D3 25mcg tablets every day throughout the Winter and have not had a serious or even moderate cold in years.

Are you enjoying it?

Are you over the yoked on adjectives?

If these vitamins work this week I'm considering it my own personal paradise regained

Aside from the lurgy I've been trying to cast aside the rings of Saturn

I've got like 60 pages left and it feels bad to eject at this point but it's been tarnished by my immune system collapsing

yeeees, i think so although im unclear on the details. i think he gets lumped in with the radicals, hippies and malcontents in Christopher Hill's 'The World Turned Upside Down' There's always been talk of his being heretical in some vague way.

"...with that thy gentle hand
Seized mine, I yielded, and from that time see
How beauty is excelled by manly grace
And wisdom, which alone is truly fair.
So spake our general mother, and with eyes
Of conjugal attraction unreproved,
And meek surrender, half embracing leaned
On our first father, half her swelling breast
Naked met his under the flowing gold
Of her loose tresses hid: he in delight
Both of her beauty and submissive charms
Smiled with superior love, as Jupiter
On Juno smiles, when he impregns the clouds
That shed May flowers; and pressed her matron lip
With kisses pure: aside the devil turned
For envy, yet with jealous leer malign
Eyed them askance, and to himself thus plained
Sight hateful, sight tormenting! thus these two
Emparadised in one another's arms
The happier Eden, shall enjoy their fill
Of bliss on bliss, while I to hell am thrust,
Where neither joy nor love, but fierce desire,
Among our other torments not the least,
Still unfulfilled with pain of longing pines"

Hey that looks good (I can see what you mean about adjectives now though)

Bloom claimed paradise lost as an intensely erotic poem but I thought that was because he doesn't know how to logon to pornhub or something

no he hasnt done his snake act yet. he has though inspired a Larkin poem by squatting like a toad
(next to Eve while she sleeps, poisoning her dreams)

Why should I let the toad work
Squat on my life?
Can't I use my wit as a pitchfork
And drive the brute off?

Six days of the week it soils
With its sickening poison -
Just for paying a few bills!
That's out of proportion.

Lots of folk live on their wits:
Lecturers, lispers,
Losers, loblolly-men, louts-
They don't end as paupers;

Lots of folk live up lanes
With fires in a bucket,
Eat windfalls and tinned sardines-
They seem to like it.

Their nippers have got bare feet,
Their unspeakable wives
Are skinny as whippets - and yet
No one actually starves.

Ah, were I courageous enough
To shout, Stuff your pension!
But I know, all too well, that's the stuff
That dreams are made on:

For something sufficiently toad-like
Squats in me, too;
Its hunkers are heavy as hard luck,
And cold as snow,

And will never allow me to blarney
My way of getting
The fame and the girl and the money
All at one sitting.

I don't say, one bodies the other
One's spiritual truth;
But I do say it's hard to lose either,
When you have both.

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
Things I remember from when I read PL aeons ago:

* the language varying from the sublime to the genuinely ridiculous, as Milton pointlessly contorts English into quasi-Latin;
* the anachronistic silliness of Satan's minions firing on the faithful angels with cannon;
* Adam referring to Eve as "the wife", making him sound like Al Murray, Pub Landlord;
* The phrase "access denied", as if Satan has forgotten his login credentials to Eden.

Might see if I can dig my copy, assuming it isn't languishing at M&D's house.

the most Mr Tea bit in this book is the fart joke

"But knowledge is as food, and needs no less
Her temperance over appetite, to know
In measure what the mind may well contain,
Oppresses else with surfeit, and soon turns
Wisdom to folly, as nourishment to wind."
