Normally Uptown will sell test presses about a month before the release

Although they will say it will be a lot longer till the full release

"I was meant to do an old skool funky show this week, but i didnt get enough tunes together, so I'm switching it up, doing ladies show this week [ie. last week]"

... and 'old skool funky' tonight? dont really know whats meant by that tbh. but it should be good

'06-'07 stuff innit. Same vein as the Geeneus one for Air on the Rinse podcast I'd imagine.

Darned cockwombles.
Love that onedrop mix. Fugitive riddim and Slow Down are both sick. Not feeling that vybz kartel remix though - is it just me or does it sound pretty slapdash, especially given the lusciousness of the original?

Ok, it's just me.

I'm am confused about what 06-07 funky is. Even back then I couldn't figure out what the fuck "funky" meant. I thought it was shit like Bodyrox until I realized everyone was losing it for Deep Dish's "The Cure and The Cause". After that, I never heard a tune I'd call "funky" until Apple's "Mr. Bean."

Can any experts name any of the bigger tunes that I guess would've been playing in Napa and the like during these Dark Ages?

ha ha, I'm featured in that dvd.

DJ NG, Tadow/Producer Mario (Hornz) and Apple had the biggest UK funky tunes in summer 2007 -- Crazy Cuzzies didn't make their mark until the winter and ran with it in 2008.

Old skool funky is really a mash up of deep house - Quentin Harris 'Traveling' - Fish Go Deep 'Cure.. (dennis Ferrer); Broken Beat - Amy Winehouse- Bed (bugz in the attic remix- dub), 4 Hero 'Hold it down', EarDis; commercial house- Mylo 'Doctor Pressure', Tom Novy 'My Body'; soulful house - Ron Hall and the muthafunkaz, Shaun Escoffery 'Days Like This (DJ Spinner mix); old skool garage/house from Masters at Work (soul fusion, kim english) etc. Anything with a groove really... good times.

I remember watching the decks as MA1 played at Red Carpet in Turnmills in summer '06 wondering why he didn't have any white labels like garage djs - turns out most of the big tunes where from pre 2004 and/or on defected (infact defected's album samplers where the lick).
