I don't listen to or play that much Funky anymore but it still remains one of my favourite genres, heres a little mix I did just for fun

nice, cheers fella, enjoyed that.

I did a funky mix a couple of weeks ago, mainly tunes from this thread as well as one of my own funky efforts. Funky is going down well in Barcelona, not many people playing it here, so i'm trying to represent a little, not sure i'm the best advert for the genre ;) no adventurous mixing or anything, just blends of my funky faves

Darned cockwombles.
Thanks for the two mixes, great stuff.Particularly feeling that Spectr tune (this is an alias of Dissensus-hater Scuba, right? He should make more funky) and a few by DJ Tazer on the other mix.

Hi mate! where in Barcelona are you playing this stuff? would love to go have a peek :)
And yeah it is true, although there's nothing resembling a 'scene' or any promoters actively pushing it, it's a sound that's historically gone very well in this city, in my experience better than anything not being bland tech-house, which is the standard sound of the city nowadays.

Also new Major Notes is beautiful :)

we're doing a monthly thing in poble sec, although this month is very dubstep, which is unusual. we're trying to keep it diverse with a mix of funky, skweee, future garage, footwork, breakcore, moombahcore etc etc... stuff that isn't getting much of a look in elsewhere

If you fancy dropping down sometime, drop me a PM ;)

champion likes to play a lot of old funky (and grime) from a select list of producers, but you gotta admit those old bits are bangin as fuck. Not exactly reppin funky, but still giving it a good name

Well he used to rep the whole spectrum of funky (see Cham. Sound mix series) but there are probably not enough new tunes to pick from these days, with literally every producer jumping on the house bandwagon

here's a new mix by myself, for all of you who miss that classic raw funky sound...some dubs, new tunes, but also overlooked funky from the past few years...starts with that Major Notes elevator one lol, gets quite tribal in the first 30 min, then there are some "funky funky" tracks, a couple of dark ones, more vocals...pretty varied mix I'd say

Wow, some really nice stuff there Denoir, Benny, and Whytea. Big up to all of you!

I'm based out of Wellington and do a show on the student radio station here. Kinda frustrated at the lack of a scene, and feeling even more isolated after the guy I started the show with left for Europe recently. Ikonika played a very reasonably priced gig here the other week and there were about 15 people in the club...

Thankfully, the people doing the show right before me are into the same sort of stuff, although perhaps leaning a bit more towards the house/techno 'UK bass' thing. If any dissensians are in Wellington hit me up! Producers especially, would love to play more NZ stuff. I know about Epoch thanks to Blackdown's show, and there's obviously Chaos in the CBD on a more housey tip (not so much my thing), but that's about all I know of.

Anyway, I've been umming and arring about sharing a set for a while, but I'm feeling brave today. I'm not half the DJ that some of the others on here are, but still proud to be flying the funky flag nonetheless!

Lots of funky (old and new) in the first hour of this one, while the second half gets a bit more dubbed out, with a couple of old favorites thrown in for good measure. Oh, and I was having issues with the platters, so apologies if some of the backspins sound a little off, as well as for any other general clanging.

not really feeling that 'rudeboy' funky tune, sounds pretty boring actually. i guess it's one of them ones where u miss suttin so much even a bog standard revist will do the trick. true say u cud say the same about that naughty raver house tune.

@denoir what is the tune in ur mix that comes in at the 41:30 minute mark its one of the last funky tunes i remember. has got the girl singing whyy whyy, sounds like an old funkystepz ting?
