Saturday Night and Sunday Morning?I'd be interested to see a film about teddy boys.

Good soundtrack as well. The seven is really nice and pretty rare (and not on the Trunk reissue)."Psychomania" - zombie Hells Angels - the scenes where they commit suicide and terrorise the shoppers are genius
Good film but it's not really about teds as such is it?"Saturday Night and Sunday Morning?"
I've not actually seen the film, but it's pretty clear in the book that Arthur would be considered a teddy boy - there are loads of references to his wardrobe full of drape jackets and teddy boy suits. I guess it's not about teds in general so much as about one particular person who happens to be a ted, though.Good film but it's not really about teds as such is it?
Yeah, it's that last bit I'm on about really, it's not about a subculture it's just about one guy who might or might not be construed to belong to a particular subculture. I think he may have something approaching a quiff in the film but as far as I can remember neither the film nor the book refer specifically to him belonging to any particular group, listening to any particular music (or any music at all really) or doing any of the things that might tie him into any youth group - except for the clothes references you mention (which admittedly I had forgotten) which link him to the scene in question."I've not actually seen the film, but it's pretty clear in the book that Arthur would be considered a teddy boy - there are loads of references to his wardrobe full of drape jackets and teddy boy suits. just saw Dark Days about "the Mole People" (homeless that live in abandoned subway tunnels) of NYC. not that great. story about making of the film was inspirational though.
Really? I thought it was fascinating. The resourcefulness and effort some of the people featured put into just surviving was more than most people put into a paid career.
there was that southern rap movie forget what it's called...
I can't believe that no-ones mentioned what for all its faults is IMO probably the best of the lot..."Quadrophenia" (Mods obviously).
any number of skateboard videos that i used to own - is there an archive of this stuff now?
s
"Punks in Prague" - BBC documentary ('91?) following some naive, slightly over-polite Czech anarcho-punks around, and nazi skinhead bands Orlik and Branik
"Skinheads" - BBC, '82? The one with Combat 84 (this is probably on YouTube somewhere) and the big nightclub ruck
"Meantime" ('83) - one of the bleakest skinhead-related films ever made, by Mike Leigh but don't let that put you off
"Rockers" - best rasta film ever
"Psychomania" - zombie Hells Angels - the scenes where they commit suicide and terrorise the shoppers are genius
