Thanks, all!

It's had about 800 views, about 70 downloads in the five days it's been active, so hopefully a few people are enjoying the music.

funnily enuff i was listening to this a few nights ago... really sick stuff,,, i tracked down DL's of some other volumes and it is just SOOOOO humbling... like every band that you discovered and thought you were the hippest dude ever (Os Mutantes, Serge Gainsbourg, Lee Perry, the Silver Apples, Moondog, Pierre Henry, Gilberto Gil) had been comped in 1971 by some French dudes... actually WHO COMPILED THESE RECORDS?

Eep. I thought I was winking pretty hard. . . maybe you are, here, and I'm the one missing it (dangerous, that). But I confess, I mixed these, and they're not really from any French label in the 1970s (though I wouldn't be surprised if there were people compiling with this knowledge even then). I didn't really want to cause confusion--just couldn't think of a title for the mixes I was making, or concoct a theme other than that they were generally international and from a few certain years. So I made up the 'Le Tour du Monde' thing as a flexible catch-all, and the verisimilitude just sprang from there, for fun--a chance to write over-the-top liner notes (original and reissue variety) and have a few in-jokes, make funny old covers. Sorry if it seems like misrepresentation--the music is still good, surely, and you're still quite hip ; )

OH YOU CUNT!

if it was humor, i admit, it was too dry for me... i figured it was POSSIBLE that someone was into all sorts of stuff... anyways, great mix...

Just been savouring the Tour Du Monde compilations you unearthed. What a marvellous find, and the quality of the digitalisation is astounding. I assume you spent a while on the vinyl pops. Currently Vol 05 is just edging it but all is a fantastically lush musical experience, thank you.

Darned cockwombles.
Great stuff. The post-punk mixes look absolutely brilliant.

One (hugely pedantic) point - wasn't 'Breaking Glass' from 1977, otherwise Bowie would have been even further ahead of his time than he undoubtedly was, and, besides, wouldn't have had time to nick stuff from German records that hadn't yet been released?!

See upthread, to Petergunn's posts, I'm afraid. . . Hope it's not too much of a disappointment. All the things posted on my blog are really mixes I've made, including any 'Le Tour du Monde' volume. They're sourced from CDs when available, vinyl when not (pops removed by hand), and in a few instances, mp3s for albums that are simply beyond my economic means to acquire. I do spend an unreasonable amount of time on the details, so I guess it's not a totally evil thing that a few people have mistaken it for a real LP set from back in the day (I hope). . .

Thanks. And yes, you're completely right--should've caught that before I uploaded it. I'd always seen it as less knicked than borrowed, through the Eno connection--he'd been in tight with those Germans for a good while, bound to be some influence. It's been corrected on the blog--should I correct it in the file and re-upload?

Oh--and posted not a mix today, but a full album--one of my own. Hope that's not grossly inappropriate. It might go over for a few Dissensians, who knows?
