thanks

i managed to grab a bunch before imeem died, but i've definitely been regretting not grabbing more from those massive playlists.

man thanks sooooo much for those dj nate imeem rips, i was gonna post here out of pure frustration of this stuff never being available, and imeem not seeming to work. seems like out of everyone dj nate has just stopped or somthing, and he seems like the one that really epitomises a certain strain of juke that just isnt in a lot of the more polished gheto-tech style mixes etc, a kinda lo-fi noisyness that really drew me to this genre.

check out the tune from 3:22-4:22
i really like the melody and the effects on it that kicks in when the kid in blue starts. also like the way the drums and the bass that comes in later matches the melody so well.

a lot of people are trying to tell me about Juke these days when what they're really talking about is sped up ghettotech

Your loss that tune is great.
Loads of old hardcore had really dodgy sample sources, it's all about the recontextualisation innit ;)

i think as well more then anything for me the discovery of juke has been the discovery of a new kind of lo-fi, one thats completley digital and has nothing to do with romantisised images of old dusty tape plays and crackly accidents on vintage synths. id like to know how close those dj nate tracks are to the original, how many times its been converted to dodgy mp3 quality and back. i can see why a producer would wanna disown their previous body of work for being so (conventionally) poorly produced, but its hit upon some new effect in the process.

bandz ahoy
Okay I'm listening to ''see into my eyes'' tune again and it's actually good.

''Detro Anthem'' is good DESPITE the hideous celine dione sample

maybe it'll grow on me, like mould

See into my eyes is my favourite track of all, I don't know if it's because it's the first Juke track I heard and I have bonded with it because of that, or if it is because of the amazing way it gets 'worse' right at the point where you think it is actually going to drop

Do not read this.
Been listening to this DJ Clent mixtape that Al forwarded over to me, absolutely love it. I love the way that when the tunes are thrown into the mix, the vocal samples sort of mash together and form a new tune, and an entirely different sample, that, in theory, could be re-sampled. Sick.

The way I play this stuff to people and they either a. hate it or b. don’t get it, is wonderful too.

@BareBones on that mix that you put up, there is a tune that drops just before the ‘u hit the ground’ remix thing, with the ‘so cry to me’ sample, that tune is fucking disgusting, especially when the bass comes in. This stuff is something else man, am I crazy though because I swear I hear some old school jungle samples all over that mix. It’s fucking hard

That's Nate's Call Me When You're Sober

I'm pretty sure DJ Lil Red is DJ Nate by the way

Freekin U was sampled in a jungle tune but I don't think there are anyother jungle samples in those tracks can anyone else spot any?

I think the overall feel of the music the slow/fast sweet/sour thing is what brings up that jungle feeling.
Especially the Nate tracks with pitched up vocals.
For me they sound like that transition phase 92-93 from Hardcore to Jungle.
I always think of this

In some ways Juke is what Jungle could have been if producers had managed to keep that balance of intense cut up drums and floor moving hype tunes.

Such a shame that it split and now seems to be either one or the other

Everyone lauds Instramental & D Bridge but I can't remember ever hearing a forward thinking progressive D&B tune that actually made me want to dance
