there's one i cant at find with a Supremes sample. Love that. First h eard in a mix while waiting for a bus late in the cold northern rain. Its like that tune was made to heard at that moment in time.

Fuck me, man's a genius. This would so be played at my wedding. Not that I even believe in weddings...and not that it's not heartbreaking. Did microhouse ever produce another song fit to sit alongside this?

Well, yeah, precisely - thread was motivated by going out to a gay bar and not beign able to go up to the DJ after every tune to ask "What the FUCK is this?". In a good way.

yeah I know a bunch of the track I named aren't garage per se but I feel like they're all motivated by that garage vibe, very much in that spirit. like Carl Craig's mix of Domina. Or "It's a New Day" (in my top ten all time) - clearly that is a record motivated by Ernestus/Von Oswald's love of vocal house, proper soulful garage stuff. to me it's a garage record. it's well gay too FWIW. tho not as gay as "I'm Your Brother".

& all that Detroit deep house stuff - Omar-S, Parrish, Moodymann, Rick Wade etc. - you couldn't call it garage as such, too eclectic, but clearly there's an influence or at least an affinity of vibe. especially w/deeper garage a la Kerri Chandler or something. I've never been sure where "garage" ends & "deep house" begins. or tribal, or in other cases progressive house, or hard house - a la Cajmere who made straight up garage records, track-y hard records & weird crossbreeds.

I lopped off a few of the less gay tracks tho.

that Global Communication track is really lovely for anyone who's not heard it. again I reckon Middleton & Pritchard's take on proper soulful US deep house. tho also it has a kind of speed garridge flavo(u)r to it with the way the vocals are chopped up.

Numbskull question:
What would people say is the main distinction between US Garage and just 90s US House?
Is it primarily a geographical thing, 'garage' just designating house made in the New York/New Jersey area, or are there notable musical differences? - e.g. I've heard some people mention the drum tracks being 'bumpier' in garage, or others talk about the tunes have dubbier, more immersive production.
I'm not fingering the distinction as a false one, I've just not got my head around it yet, despite listening to a fair ammount of the stuff.
