Staying in Nottingham and going to London for the day, my observations:
1. everything is expensive, costing me $100+AUS return to get to london and back
2. Globalisation is doibng my head in! First store I see in Nottingham is selling Australian Billabong Surf gear for a country that has neither the weather nor 'surf' to support this 'lifestyle'!
3. Cloudy every day
4. Beer. Drinking lots of it, in funny bottles, with aromatic flavour.
5. Music seems crap at the moment. Where is this mythic 'baseline' scene? Where are stores that stock it?
6. Nottingham Castle - I like castles, makes me feel I'm in England, not fucking mall-fuck USA (or Australia!) - though me thinks the Poms are just as good at global consumerism as the Septics, I mean the British empire and all...
7. How 'orderly' everything is!
8. 'The Guardian' great newspaper, not many ads.
As a consumer, the best thing about Engerland are the books/magazines. Always good writers and great books. Shame you can't find them at fucking Waterstones! (hence I may be ables to find shit in London)
9. Picked up Simon Reynolds 'rip it up' book for 3 squid at Fopp!
10. BBC is cool. Limitatons on culture isn't a bad thing.
RUPERT MURDOCH SHOULD BE FATWA'D!! He spreds shit everywhere...like Sky TV!
