The "how I will be watching the election results" thread

Ohio was the big win, apparently. It doesn't look like a landslide to me, yet, but the republican analyst, who looks a bit like Bruno in the west wing, which is a good look, and who is excellent, seems to think this is the key result of the night. Though it's not actually called yet.

Frei just got cut off, again... raises the tension delightfully.

I'm considering moving my family the States now that it looks like Obama's going to win.

Gordon Brown or Tory Boy? stick a fork in the UK, it's done.

Is there bad blood between dimbleby and matt frei, he keeps cutting him dead. He's cut Jeremy Vine dead now. Try that with John Simpson, Dimbleby...

the more the merrier :D

"Mexican food, d'you know Elizabeth Lambert Ortiz?"

but never cooked her, mistersloane. cheers for the link! worth further investigation. thank you very much :)

(i like Bayless a lot, as an inspiration, though i know there was that strava re. the Burger King advert.)

Grievous Angel: "Mmmmm... Brigadier Jerry rum. I've found some anchor steam in the back of the cupboard and have a tumbler full of Talisker beside me. Finding it hard to focus now."

Anchor Steam and scotch. blow me twice!
for UK drinkers, can i just say Wetherspoon deserve some notice for getting the Californian cider Ace in their pubs for their current festival?

Jackson Junior is, how can i say, less fire-brand than the old fella.

i would also just like to take this opportunity to express my deep dislike for Oklahoma Republicans.

Mexican is one of the world's truly great cuisines, and hugely underrated. Extraordinary range of flavours. Going to investigate this book.

I was talking to the mom of one of my students earlier today, they're from California and she was bemoaning the lack of worthwhile Mexican food in London - apparently the tortillas taste all wrong. I tried to talk her into try a proper (i.e. Angladeshi) curry.

Haha, Dimbleby: "Fox News is not good enough, no!" :)

A food fight?

But where's Sarah 2012? Joe the Plumber?

Do people in the U.K. eat guacamole? So easy to make and so good...anything with lime and cilantro in it is ok with me

We don't need guacamole, we have mushy peas.

Talking of green sauces, I once had a peruvian sauce called aji with chicken at a place called el pollo in manhattan, years and years ago. it was the best thing i'd ever eaten at the time.

Pffft, try telling that to Peter Mandelson.

Edit: an AMAZING hot sauce is mojo ('mo-(c)ho') sauce from the Canaries, served with salted baked potatoes. YES.

Edit edit: shit, they've just wheeled out Bolton on the beeb!

No. Wetherspoon. It's... No. Nothing wrong. But. No.
It's a good look. Red Stripe for most of the night, naturellement.

There's a little El Salvadorean place called Bahia on Grand St. near my apt in Brooklyn, and it's so incredibly good, and equally inexpensive. It's not four star but it's great. Lots of plantains and such...
