Presumably Craig Leon (as mentioned above) was part of that scene right? I mean I dunno much about him as a person - if he was a shooting smack on the bowery or home by ten with a cup of tea guy - but he ought to have been aware of what was going on right?
Although I never knew his stuff until much later, I don't know how many people would have heard it when he made it.

I thought of you @john eden cos it was sampled from Lords of Acid below; a song which, even by their standards, strikes me as just so... so infantile. Maybe I'm projecting but every time I hear it I feel that she fires back the cutting riposte "Well let me suck your dick" with a sort of amazed pride, as though even she is stunned by how brilliant that line is, as if she has spontaneously produced an incredibly cutting and witty bon mot that will put him in his place and have the brightest young things of the most rarefied literary circles and salons shaking their heads in jealous admiration.
Or kinda like a kid holding up the contents of her potty to show everyone that she made poo-poo.

because it was produced by two big post-disco NY guys - Mark Kamins (of Madonna fame) and Alberto Cabrera of the Latin Rascals

while I'm thinking about Robert Görl, he also did this awesome duet with Annie Lennox off his post-DAF solo record

no I mean Maurice Engelen + co's deployment of the sample is incredibly juvenile in a very dumb Lords of Acid way
that Karen Finley record - and her art in general - is pretty easy to miss the point and just go "tits" or "omg lol" or whatever

Eurythmics did do some stuff that was interesting in those days I guess....
*EDIT: to be clear I'm not disputing a chain of reason or connection or etc I just mean that in Portugal apparently one is not allowed to watch whatever is in that video you posted.

Karen Finley's other jam is "Lick It", which is probably better than "Tales of Taboo" as an actual tune rather than just a novelty
it's a plot point in the early 90s indie flick Party Girl which is actually a pretty cool take on that era of house music, Club Kids, etc
(much better than the actual Club Kids biopic, Party Monster, which is terrible)
in the movie it's by a fictional producer named Teddy Rogers and the club owner forbids it to ever be played on pain of death

I'm not really into the Eurythmics at all even in terms of high-budget 80s synthpop
but their first record was produced by Conny Plank at the same time he was producing DAF
Robert Gorl plays on it, as do none other than Jaki Liebezeit and Holger Czukay, and Stockhausen's son Markus
it's kind of post-krautrock meets new wave, definitely a bit off Sweet Dreams etc
on the Old Gray Whistle Test with the man like Czukay on French horn (and a surprisingly ripping flute solo from Annie herself)
anyway, that's the DAF-Eurythmics connection
