I think of the end product when I think of RT. It's a propaganda wing of the Russian state. That state's leader has explicitly said he's against Western liberal values, weaponises anti-LGBT prejudice (I watched a few films about gay-bashing and internet entrapment in Russia - still traumatised), murders journalists on the regular, just tried to off the leading opposition figure with a nerve agent etc etc. Kinda sours it all for me.

Yeah, I saw some debate about outlawing it as a propaganda opp, but I wonder if that'd just a) whip up a propaganda storm b) impossible to control anyway with the internet.

Peter Pomerantsev's first book is in part about his time working for Russian state TV. It's probably a little out of date now though I'd guess - doesn't take into account the events of the last few years, the way it's got worse if Rich is to be believed.
