Used to sit between Jesus and Abba in the pantheon, but hasn't aged as well as either (being dead doesn't help i suppose, though Jesus does OK)

Seriously it used to be Elvis movies on TV, Elvis toys in woolworths (next to Evil Kenivil), Elvis impersonators like Cliff and Shakey coining it up the charts this side of the pond. Don't even barely see a cover version or karaoke number these days.

they replaced the elvis impersonator with a neal diamond one which i felt a bit conned by. no one knows any neal diamond songs
except that one he wrote for euro 2020 (which was the last song of the set inevitably)
currently enjoying a lukewarm stella and some spicy cornflakes

yes, but diminished over the years. kids used to know Elvis, doubt they do now. Graceland still a big attraction, though.

yeah, it's easy to poke fun at the later Elvis - Colonel Tom made him a lot of money but at the expense of credibility, it's easy to forget how influential the Sam Philips's era Elvis was
