I guess Polanski is technically French but barely. The Polish side of him makes decent cinema and the French side molests children, I'm guessing.

Do you like isabelle huppert? thinking about watching all her films after seeing Elle because of how mysterious funny subtle and disturbing that performance isI love the French, I love their literature, art, cities, landscapes, philosophy, wine, but I also think their cinema is a total fraud.
That isn't quite the same thing: Blowup was a direct influence on both The Conversation and Blow Out and they're all variations on a theme and story; The Lives of Others is based around surveillance but it's its own thing and goes somewhere else.What about The Lives of Others? Haven't seen it yet but I think it has a similar premise to The Conversation.
