music is also very functional and I imagine as you age and become more closed off theres less need for it. As a young man who still has numerous concerns out in the world I still find that I 'need' music and little moments where I wish I had more of the right music for whatever appropriate situation keep me looking for more

Does bossa nova not cover the spectrum?

I literally put 'ambient forest noises' or something into the search in Spotify and stick the headphones on to drown out the annoying cunts next door so I can sleep. It's not music.

the stuff like this that leans more towards dance music and less towards hip hop is ,in brief moments, the best music in the world
It's possible, but the actual real life moments when it happens are very very rare. Mostly it's just fucking irritating and you want to kill whoever's playing it

I want to message off to the people I was staying with in mexico to get the name of the reggatone mixes they were playing but I know they would see that message and then all pass the phone around laughing hysterically

I'm not even anti reggaeton in particular, it has its place. I went to a feria in this little village a couple of years ago that had a fairground with all the new trap reggaeton playing ridiculously loud and tbh it sounded brilliant, it made sense in that moment. Doesn't mean I wanna listen to it any other time though.

do you know where the good mixes are? the good stuff is hypnotic and sinister sounding. sometimes the DJ voice sounds like a demon. I cant contort my youtube algorithim to show me any of that though

Unfortunately not cos I actively avoid it when I can. If I come across anything I'll let you know. Totally agree that it can have that demonic thing about it that's brilliant, similar to the dancehall in this thread at times, but it has to be the right context for me to enjoy it. I'd have to Shazam it to find out what the actual tunes are.

It's mostly the most annoying music ever made, but you could say the say the same about anything if you're not in the mood for it which is most of the time

Chronic Law does my head in, he'll put out 10 songs out a month, 9 of them will be total shit but that one good song is raaaaar fucking brilliant, why can't he just stick to what he's good at FFS?

yeah Motorcade sold me on Valiant finally

I like the Countree Hype riddim on this one; not sure if there are more versions:

Totally agree on Chronic Law testing one's patience, it takes a lot of will for me to click these days. Interesting drums on this one though:

There's a hint of Dexta Daps in Valiant's voice at times that both appeals and repulses at the same time, that slimy Jamaican rnb thing. Good contrast to Intence/Skillibeng/Skeng and their army of clones

I love Squash's vocals so much. Barty's calling it 'lava lamp voice' which strikes me as a perfect metaphor. The riddims have that narcotic almost deep house sound that carry on from Mek E Place Nice and Luxe Flame riddims from last couple of years, if anyone remembers them. More like these please.
