I've never seen such profound ignorance expressed about American identity when the whole "American project" from the start had been about white racial superiority not only justifying slavery and the treatment of black people, but of extermination and genocide of native americans, and yet this person has the gall to mention Nazis in the same post when it's well known that one of Hitler's very biggest influences is this racist American project.
A system that we're seemingly unable to recognize was perhaps his greatest influence. Nazi leadership even used language that echoed this in referring to the people east of him in Europe as indians or redskins, and calling it "the wild east." Never mind Hitler's quote “gunned down the millions of Redskins to a few hundred thousand, and now keep the modest remnant under observation in a cage”

They're probably also not aware, until very recent history, there were anti-miscegenation laws, and it was and still continues to be, especially outside of the larger metro areas, taboo among many people to date outside of race, much less marry. And it was progressives that made it more acceptable to date and marry outside of race. checkmate, who again?
Oh, and I suppose all the native americans that are currently been being harassed by ICE when not on reservations, that must be because they look white, right?

But, please, let's hear more from the person who has never been here, much less lived here unlike where I've seen millions of examples of racism right in front of my eyes.
Never mind that when the racist skins harassed and were violent towards various people in downtown, and I have first-hand experience of this, the cops would automatically jump to the side of the racist skins in assuming it's other people's fault for getting a beatdown by only asking for their side of the story. "oh, I guess that will teach him"

he decided to become 'English' and the good model minority, can't really expect much else from him. And now that project isn't as rosy as the wagers he once put down would have had it, he masturbates furiously to owning the progressives ignoring that he is just as much implicated in fidelity to the very same progressive ideology. That's what happens when your mind is ruined by the infidels food.

Shaka had some mildly spicy takes upthread that show moderate amounts of critical thinking, everyone else seems to have about the same information and angle as the MSM—not the strongest board showing in recent memory, no 'fense to all involved

Overall I think there's a credulousness toward Trump's bluster, persona, windbagging. I don't love all the policy decisions, but I think it will be interesting to watch the actual longterm effects and policies develop. The US has always wanted the EU to take a much more active role in Ukraine, for instance, and post-Zelensky summit, they are. That's interesting to me.

Trump is the kayfabe prez and I think if you're getting triggered by his public performance then you're probably a mark, not an analyst
What if, right, what if some people have legitimate reasons to dislike his policies, rather than just getting "triggered by his performances"?

People who are losing access to life-saving medical care, for instance?

That's policy, I'm trying to distinguish precisely what you're conflating. That's why I said "bluster, persona, windbagging."

But given everyone in the thread is literally from a foreign country I'm not sure why this hypothetical health care scenario applies anyway

It's much more interesting to me to wonder why middle aged Brits are obsessed with Trump. Four simultaneous threads top of the charts. It displays a real impoverishment of a once-great culture to have its headspace so colonized by an ex-province

Maybe cos the US is trampling over the whole world right now. It would be a bit weird if we went "Oh he's American let's ignore his effect on the war in Europe or his threatened tariffs etc etc".

US is now literally in a trade war with Canada as they announced retaliatory tariffs.

I'm curious why this bothers you so much. You've said it a few times now. Are you an Anglophile?
