But he's very aware that he doesn't need protecting, is the thing. He exists at the precise overlap of every single demographic that's least likely to be harmed by the new regime's policies. He may even do very well out of it.

I find it a difficult theory to be completely taken in by because I think what you see just is his personality. It's certainly been shaped by his media career and he knows how to play for the cameras, but I doubt he's much different when they aren't around.
